Jennifer Chait
Jennifer Chait is a full-time freelance writer and professional blogger. She was trained in Nursing and Midwifery in college until she decided to write full time at home to give her more time with her family.
Health Writer Expertise
Jennifer attended the University of New Mexico, where she studied science, nursing, and health writing. She enjoys writing about diet and health topics, especially those concerning:
- Organic food
- Natural foods
- Healthy diet
- Exercise
Jennifer tries to live and eat healthfully but admits that her coffee obsession is a bit of a contradiction.
Doula Experience
Jennifer worked as a doula and attended nursing school with plans of working as a midwife, but ended up deciding to stay home full time to homeschool her son. Not wanting to waste ALL that time she spent in college taking classes (not to mention long, long clinicals), she often writes about health topics.
Youth Advocate and Case Manager
In Jennifer's past, she has worked as a homeless youth advocate and case manager and also with disabled individuals. Both had a focus on addiction and recovery issues.
Jennifer also completed numerous hospital clinicals while in RN school and has seen first-hand the damage drugs and alcohol can cause individuals and families alike. She's worked in psychiatric and clinical hospitals as well as having extensive experience with treatments programs such as Al-Anon.
Green Living Lifestyle
Jennifer is very much into living the green life. She recently co-built a passive solar home in New Mexico that utilized greener materials and was built small to conserve both space and materials. One day Jennifer would like to build an even smarter, earth-friendly home that's off the grid.
Safety Expert
Jennifer Chait is one of 'those' people obsessed with safety. From ergonomic furniture to choking hazards to building the perfect first aid kit, she loves it all. She is certified in various OSHA courses and adult, infant, and child CPR and first aid. Jennifer really enjoys having an outlet to write about safety; her friends enjoy this too, since it takes her safety speeches away from them and puts them somewhere more useful.
Teen Advisor
Jennifer, although no longer a teen herself, loves teens as a group because of their vast potential. She has worked as a youth advocate, case manager, and doula with homeless teens. She has run groups for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender teens and has worked with teens who have been victims of domestic violence. She has extensive volunteer experience with young teens through mentoring programs like Big Sisters of America.
