Janelle T King, MPH, BSN, RN

Janelle King is a Registered Nurse and public health expert. Janelle holds a Master's degree in Public Health from the University of Toledo and a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing from Capital University. She also holds a Bachelor of Human Kinetics. She is an expert on young women's health including:
- Reproductive health
- Sexual health
- Contraception
- Sexually transmitted infections and HIV
Janelle also has expertise in wellness, fitness, and disease prevention.
Young Women's Reproductive Health Expert
Janelle provided care to young adults and adolescents for five years. She is trained in contraception counseling including Long-Acting Reversible Contraception (LARC), testing and treatment of sexually transmitted infections, counseling on gynecological problems, and menstrual suppression.
HIV Counselor
Janelle has worked extensively in HIV care. She has provided counseling and testing to high-risk adults and youth within community and clinic settings. She has also provided training and technical assistance to local providers for the implementation of HIV prevention programs.
Expert in Disease Prevention
Janelle worked for the Ohio Department of Health for more than eight years. During that time, she implemented population-based programs aimed at the primary and secondary prevention of heart disease and stroke. More specifically, she oversaw a statewide collaborative effort to reduce high blood pressure and stroke in African American men. She was also responsible for creating related consumer materials. Janelle has presented nationally on the reduction of high blood pressure and stroke in African American men. Janelle was also responsible for overseeing a statewide initiative to improve birth outcomes, perinatal health, and reduce infant mortality.
Certified Health Education Specialist
She is passionate about wellness, fitness, and public health. She worked at a community health center in Toronto, Canada where she implemented a program aimed at increasing physical activity while reducing the burden of diabetes. Additionally, she is a Certified Health Education Specialist who helps others achieve optimal health and wellness through programming and guidance.
Other Interests and Hobbies
Janelle is committed to staying active. She exercises regularly and participates in a number of different fitness classes including boot camp, Zumba, and strength and conditioning. She is also an avid runner and has completed a number of road races and a half marathon. Janelle also enjoys traveling and immersing herself in different cultures.
